Bioshock: Game of the Year 2007?
2K Studios
‘ latest game, BioShock, has been receiving rave reviews from just about every notable gaming websites and magazines. Some numbers include a 9.7 from IGN, a 10/10 from 1UP, and its currently maintaining a 99% average at GameRankings.
Bioshock has been described as a spiritual successor to Irrational Games’ critically acclaimed System Shock series. The game is set in the 1960s, in a defunct utopia. It plays as a FPS primarily, but also blends in several RPG elements. The unique aspect of Bioshock is how the player can alter his character using plasmids. There are a number of abilities and properties that these plasmids effect, and can even alter the appearance of the character. However, the player only has access to a limited amount of plasmids, and planning future upgrades is a necessity to make the most of your character. You will also have options in customizing your weapons.
Is Bioshock set to become the Game of the Year 2007? I think its a bit early to say that. Its going to have quite a few contenders to deal with, but from the critical acclaim its received so far, it looks to stand a good chance.
Bioshock is set to release on August 21 for the 360 and PC. You can preorder Bioshock now at PlayAsia.com for $59.99.
