This next week has me as giddy as a Japanese school girl

The summer isn’t known for being big in the gaming industry. Unlike the movie industry, the gaming industry pretty much puts everything on cruise control, just prepping for big conventions so they can blow you away with their holiday line up. This summer, for the most part, has been no different. There were the price drops for the 360 and PS3, which were pretty big. There was also the release of the GotY contender known as Bioshock on the XBox 360 and PC. Outside of that, though… nothing.

Well, thats all about to change with the final week of the summer. There is a GREAT title releasing just about every day this week. Monday we see the release of the highly anticipated Nintendo Wii title, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. We also see the release Midway’s Stranglehold – on the 360 and whether or not its Hollywood movie sized budget pays off.

Tuesday is Warhawk, Sony’s massive online shooter, where you can duke it out online from the ground to the air and everything in between. On the 360 front, you’ll also see Microsofts first big offering of the JRPG genre with Blue Dragon. Also on Tuesday is Dynasty Warriors Gundam(if you are one of the 5 people that enjoy Koei’s tried hack ‘n slash games).

Wednesday sees the release of Super Puzzle Fighter HD to the XBox Live Marketplace. Get ready to enjoy the classic Tetris rip off, now in HD!

On Thursday, the PlayStation Network gets a huge update with the download version of Warhawk and the PS3 version of Super Puzzle Fighter HD. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection also – finally – sees the light of day on PSN.

Finally, Arc System Works’ quirky 2D fighting masterpiece, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, will roman cancel its way to the Nintendo Wii.

I’m looking forward to it, are you?
