Sony altering Halo 3 Wikipedia?

One of the most recent changes under the Halo 3 section of the Halo series wikipedia included a little line saying that “[Halo 3] is expected to set a new high watermark for next-generation games, although it won’t look any better then Halo 2.” Big deal, right? Its a popular game series in the middle of an intense console war, its bound to get some fanboys making snide comments on it. But in this instance, things are not quite as simple as they appear.

The Wired Blog Network ‘Threat Level’ is dedicated to finding Wikipedia alterations and exposing who did them. Usually, they cover edits to Wikipedia pages of politicians and what not. The Wired senior editor, Kevin Poulsen, has checked the IP address of the person who edited the Halo 3 page and came back with some startling results. The edit came from an IP address registered at SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) Liverpool Studios in Great Britain. It appears an employee at the Liverpool Studio was the one posting the defamatory comments!

The Halo 3 wikipedia page has since been locked to prevent further edits. More information will come.
